The Fighting Words Festival showcases three developing scripts via readings, all reflecting how women define themselves and their places in their worlds — including the English countryside, medieval Scotland, and the "final frontier." The "Origins" theme is included throughout Babes With Blades Theatre Company's 20th Anniversary Season. "An origin story launches a character's journey," said coartistic director Kathrynne Wolf. "It defines who they are, explains why they do the things they do, and informs how they go about making a difference. As we turn 20, BWBTC reflects on our own origins: a group of artists determined to expand the canon of women's roles and challenge audience expectations through the use of stage combat in our stories."

Ninth season includes 10 readings featuring plays from around the world including Spain, Ireland, Finland, Romania, Serbia, Germany, Australia, India, Wales, and Sweden

Sie returns to Lifeline for a free event to promote his debut novel (with illustrator Sungyoon Choi), Still Life Las Vegas: A Novel. The evening will include a wine and cheese reception, a concert reading selection from the novel featuring current Lifeline Theatre ensemble members, and a Q&A session moderated by Lifeline Artistic Director Dorothy Milne, followed by a book signing with Sie.
