Deadline reports that TNT has ordered a full season of Snowpiercer, an adaptation of Bong Joon-ho's 2013 dystopian sci-fi thriller, which itself is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige. The cast will includes two Broadway performers, Daveed Diggs and Lena Hall.
The hourlong drama pilot is a coproduction of Tomorrow Studios and Turner's Studio T, along with CJ Entertainment. IMDb describes Snowpiercer as follows: "The series focuses on the last survivors on the planet. They inhabit the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe, which is divided into two feuding classes." Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) will serve as director and an executive producer on the series.
Diggs is best known for originating the role of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the Broadway musical Hamilton, for which he earned a Tony Award. He has since appeared on Netflix's The Get Down and ABC's Black-ish. Hall is best known for her Tony-winning performance as Yitzhak in the 2014 Broadway revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which she reprised in the national tour of Hedwig, taking on the title role at certain performances. In 2017, she starred in Lincoln Center's off-Broadway production of Sarah Ruhl's How to Transcend a Happy Marriage.
In addition to Diggs and Hall, the series will star Jennifer Connelly, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Alison Wright, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, and Sheila Vand.
