The Hollywood Bowl celebrates one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history — Annie! This classic story of a young girl overcoming adversity features a beloved score of hits (including "Tomorrow" and "It's the Hard Knock Life") and is a delightful experience for the entire family!
It's the heartwarming "rhythm and boos" musical comedy offering a new twist on what makes a hero and how legends are made. Boo the villain and cheer the heroine in the true spirit of the American melodrama. Annie Oakley was a champion for women's rights as far back as 1898, and now she's back, coming to the aid of a single mom and her daughters struggling to find a balance between the bottom-line temptations of modern living and the comforting roots of tradition. Should Annie's Place, passed down through the generations of women in Kat's family, become the newfangled Princess Café? Is the "out with the old, in with new" mentality the right one? Should princesses replace cowgirls? Or is there a way to unite the old and the new? Audiences ages 2 to 102 help Annie, Kat, and her girls hold their own against smarmy villain Marvin Q. Moneypots and create a whole new family tradition. Birthday parties are available with every show.
Adapted from Daniel Wallace's novel and Tim Burton's acclaimed film, and featuring spine-tinglingly beautiful music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family and The Wild Party), Big Fish is a fantastical musical that illustrates the larger-than-life anecdotes of Edward Bloom, a man nearing the end of his life. This fact has compelled his grown son Will to embark on an adventure of his own — to unravel his real dad from the myths of his tall tales. Filled with magic, love, luck, and crazy coincidences, this rollicking fantasy set in the American South is a tribute to the power of dreaming big.
Recommendation for all ages.
Fancy Nancy and her friends Bree, Rhonda, Wanda, and Lionel are going to be performing in their very first show, Deep Sea Dances. Nancy is positive, that's fancy for 100 percent sure, that she and Bree will be picked to be mermaids. When another girl wins the coveted role of the mermaid, Nancy is stuck playing a dreary, dull tree. Can Nancy bring fancy flair to her role, even though it isn't the one she wanted?
In this charming musical adaptation of Frederick, the award-winning book by Leo Lionni, summer is quickly turning to fall and all the mice are out collecting supplies for the cold winter that lies ahead — all except for Frederick, who seems to have his head in the clouds, or so it would appear. When winter finally arrives, it is Frederick who has stored something special that helps save the day. With a foot-tapping score that adds to the fun, Frederick is a perfect introduction to musical theater for our youngest audiences.
Jane Austen's enduring love story is brought to life as a romantic-comedy musical. The story revolves around Emma, a well-meaning but disaster-prone matchmaker who ignores her own romantic feelings while setting out to find a suitor for her friend Harriet. Her efforts go awry, of course, leading to comic complications. We invite you to fall in love again with one of Jane Austen's most adored characters, featuring an intelligent and buoyant score from Tony-nominated composer Paul Gordon (Jane Eyre).
Recommendation: Wonderful for the entire family!
Journey "under the sea" with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics). Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance. Following the sold-out runs of Curious George and The Velveteen Rabbit, the Morgan-Wixson pulls out all the stops in this fully staged musical extravaganza. With a singing and dancing cast of 36, The Little Mermaid is sure to charm fans of all ages!
Fun (and appropriate) for everyone from 2 to 200 years old, The Really Awesome Improv Show features improv games that rely on audience suggestions and participation. Because there's a rotating cast, audiences see different performers and games each week.
