A Day With Fun Home Star Beth Malone

Watch Malone prep for a typical day on the Great White Way with just some hair gel and a scooter.

Colorado native Beth Malone has seen the development of Fun Home from its earliest beginnings all the way through its Best Musical win and her first-ever nomination at the 2015 Tony Awards. She stars as the real-life lesbian cartoonist Alison Bechdel, narrating the story of her upbringing, which traces Bechdel's sexual awakening and her closeted father's path to suicide. Malone offered TheaterMania some fascinating insight into the complex character from inside her dressing room, following some far less complex prep at her uptown apartment. Thanks to Alison's minimal costume requirements, we had plenty of time to hear all about life inside the Fun Home and her own cathartic journey each night at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre.
