The star of Broadway's Present Laughter and TV's How I Met Your Mother on how she got the "seal" of approval on her career choice.

Before audiences knew her across America as Robin Scherbatsky (or, alternatively, Robin Sparkles) on TV's How I Met Your Mother, Cobie Smulders was just another actress trying to get work in her native Canada. One of her earliest auditions came for James Cameron's television series Dark Angel in the role of "Gill Girl," a nonspeaking character who was half-woman, half…seal. At the press junket for Present Laughter, in which she'll make her Broadway debut, Smulders described the audition, which was virtually silent…until she had to make seal sounds.
