Theater Gone Wrong: Kevin Kline on Madeline Kahn's Encounter With Dry Ice

The Present Laughter star tells us why mistakes are what theatergoers enjoy the most.

Kevin Kline has returned to Broadway in Present Laughter at the St. James Theatre. Decades earlier, Kline took the stage of the St. James in the musical On the Twentieth Century, in which he starred with Madeline Kahn. That production had some dry ice involved for a special effect, and at one performance, some of it came falling from the rafters and landed in a very precarious place on Kahn's body. Needless to say, it took a few seconds to get back on track.
